10) Urban Hakka
This restaurant is well known for its chicken dishes. Plus they’re always consistent with their quality of food. A favourite dish here is the tandoori chicken with fried rice. This dish costs $12, but it’ll give you a very filling meal. The chicken is juicy, and since it has been marinated with yogurt and other spices, you’ll get a smokey earthy taste from the dish. The fried rice also comes with a variety of vegetables added to the dish. Plus the meal looks very photogenic.
9) Yueh Tung Restaurant
This is a family-run restaurant that serves authentic Hakka dishes. Over the years, they have curated an extensive menu all tested by the chefs to bring out the best flavour profile. They also have some great vegan and vegetarian options to accommodate everyone’s personal tastes. We recommend trying the Manchurian Chicken on rice here. This dish is made with a lot of chillies. It also makes use of garlic and ginger to deepen the flavour profile. Every bite brings a burst of flavour in your mouth and for $11 this is a great deal.
8) Danforth Dragon Restaurant

7) Wong's Asian Cuisine
This restaurant has a great lunch special for $6.63 plus tax. You can choose your curry dish which will be served with your choice of rice, vegetable spring roll, soup or soda. A favourite dish here is the Butter Masala Chicken. This dish comes in a thick creamy sauce. The butter base helps to blend the taste of the other spices added in. This dish isn’t mild in flavour by any means and has always brought in repeat customers. So if you’d like to try it we recommend visiting on a weekday between 11:30am – 2:30pm
6) Hakka Chopsticks
This restaurant is beloved for its soup and noodle dishes. We recommend trying the hot and sour soup at this place. For $10.75, you’ll get a thick flavourful broth and crunch from the vegetables added for a complex flavour profile. Another favourite here is the Hakka Special Chow Mein Noodles. This dish is salty, sweet and savoury from the combination of sauces. The chicken and the shrimp added to the dish absorb these flavours well. 5) Khao Hakka
If you’re looking for food with that umami flavour then Khao Hakka is the place to go. Their dishes are aromatic, salty and delicious. The food at this restaurant is very reasonably priced; you won’t find such great offers often. The price ranges from $7.50 to $14. We recommend trying the spicy garlic shrimp here. This restaurant uses a mix of Nepali and Indian style cuisine to create their Hakka dishes. They also serve Thai dishes at this restaurant. There are so many dishes to choose from but we personally prefer the Biryani Chicken Fried rice. It has a nice fragrance from the spices and the rice is flavourful. This dish has the perfect combination of rice and meat. The robust flavour comes from many things including ginger, garlic, cardamom and more.
1) Hakka Legend Asian Cuisine Markham
The founder and executive chef of this restaurant opened this restaurant with the hope of selling delicious and accommodating food. Not only do they have vegetarian options here, but they also have a lot of options when it comes to their seafood, meat, and appetizers. We recommend trying the lunch special, the Chicken Pad Thai.
