The Best Shows On Amazon Prime

Now that you know how we chose these shows, it’s time to get streaming! Here are the 45 best Amazon Prime Shows, as recommended by Reddit users.

1. The Boys

In the world of The Boys, superheroes are both celebrated and exploited by the public. Though they are seen as heroes, these extraordinary individuals are actually the property of a powerful corporation known as Vought International.

This megacorporation carefully controls the behaviour and marketing of their “heroes,” making sure that they are always in the spotlight and bringing in huge profits for Vought. However, despite their heroic personas and reputation, these “heroes” often turn out to be arrogant and corrupt when in private.

Through its eye-opening depiction of this dark, twisted version of our universe, The Boys challenges us to rethink our attitudes towards celebrity culture and uncovers some uncomfortable truths about what we really value when it comes to those who safeguard our world from danger.

In short, it’s a thought-provoking exploration of the many ways in which people can become corrupted by power.

Casts: Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr

Audience Review:

“It's absolutely bad ass fantastic!!! Gore ...action ...humor...rockin cast...entertaining storyline! All the things that pull me into a show...I checked it out because it was from one of the creators of supernatural (my favorite show) and was sold in the first five minutes...that's all it took to let me know this show was going to be my deal 110% and become an instant favorite! I can't wait to watch season two that just aired but of course I have to rewatch season one again first 😉 It's like ash vs evil dead mixed with preacher sprinkled with Deadpool humor...I feel like this is truly how superheroes would be if they were real and that's what makes it so easy to be pulled in. Killer show I look forward to more seasons!!!!”

2. Invincible

The story of Invincible is centered around Mark Grayson, a normal seventeen-year-old boy who goes through the motions of high school and eagerly awaits the day he develops superpowers like his father, Nolan Grayson, alias Omni-Man. When his abilities finally manifest, Mark is ecstatic and wastes no time in donning a costume and hitting the streets to fight crime.

However, he soon discovers that life as a superhero is more complicated than he thought. Not only does he have to deal with supervillains, but he also has to contend with his father’s legacy. Can Mark Step out of his father’s shadow and become a hero in his own right? Only time will tell.

Show Information:

Genre: Action, Animation, Adventure
Rating: 8.7/10
Casts: Steven Yeun, J.K. Simmons, Sandra Oh

Audience Review:

“Invincible takes the classic Image Comics series and gives us the best mature animated superhero series since Spawn: The Animated Series. Considering both are Image properties, it's also no surprise that the violence in them is something that a Bruce-Timm-Batman cartoon wouldn't touch with a ten-foot poll, or Spider-Man toons even. However, the 'splashes' of humour and quippy dialogue IS something Invincible does honour and lean into when it comes to revering other superhero shows like Batman; this show takes something like the DCAU and decides to use it as a launchpad for Uber-violence and character-centric world-building focusing on sex and grey morality in a MARVEL-like universe.”

Show Information:

Genre: Crime, Drama
Rating: 8.5/10

Audience Review:

“Bosch is one of the best police dramas there is and that's saying something considering there are about a thousand to choose from! It's a gritty, suspenseful drama where the acting is terrific! Titus Welliver is absolutely perfect as Harry Bosch! It's sucks that this incredible show is ending after Season 7 but I guess it's better to go out on top than hang on too long. If you haven't seen this amazing show yet I highly recommend that you make the time to do so!”

4. Mr. Robot

Mr. Robot is one of the most popular television shows of the past few years, and it’s not hard to see why. The show follows Elliot, a young programmer who works as a cyber-security engineer by day and as a vigilante hacker by night. Elliot finds himself at a crossroads when the mysterious leader of an underground hacker group recruits him to destroy the firm he is paid to protect.

The show is full of twists and turns, and the characters are incredibly fascinating. If you’re looking for a show that will keep you on the edge of your seat, Mr. Robot is definitely worth checking out.

Show Information:

Genre: Crime, Drama, Thriller
Rating: 8.6/10
Casts: Rami Malek, Christian Slater, Carly Chaikin

Audience Review:

“Mr. Robot simply changed my life.
I watched over 4175 TV episodes of 92 shows (28 still in production). But the last episode (mostly the last 3 eps) of this masterpiece just broke my heart. I was never so sentimental for characters in any movie. But this time it was like taking place of the action, feeling the anger, the shame, the frustration of Eliot. After watching so much TV, you notice they tend to have similar patterns, similar endings, but not, no. This mind****** me. The only thing that I want more is that I want more of this! Hats off for Mr. Rami Malek for converting acting into feelings to this level. And thanks to Sam Esmail for being the architect of this masterpiece!
I bow to you!
Thank you.”

Show Information:

Genre: Crime, Drama, Thriller
Rating: 8.6/10
Casts: Rami Malek, Christian Slater, Carly Chaikin

Audience Review:

“Damn. If the Syfy (I hate that abbreviation) Channel would show more stuff like this and less from The Asylum, I'd watch it more. This is simply great SF. The physics of space travel are as realistic as can be. The characters, from Miller the beat up Belter Cop, to Amos the Earther, to Holden the righteous captain by default and the places, Ceres, Tycho, Earth and Mars are all well defined and believable. The sfx is brilliant and the ship designs look like they've evolved from what we use today. The situations, different governments vying for power, resources and land, are all excellently done. A really great adaptation of a really great book series. This should be watched by anyone who even claims to be a sf fan.”

Pros

Cons

The Duttons are constantly under attack by those who border their land – developers, an Indian reservation, and America’s first National Park. Yellowstone is a story about the fight to keep the ranch intact, and the lengths that the Duttons will go to protect their way of life.

The show is full of drama, suspense, and action, making it impossible to tear yourself away. If you’re looking for a show that will keep you on the edge of your seat, Yellowstone is definitely worth watching.

Show Information:

Genre: Drama, Western
Rating: 8.7/10
Casts: Kevin Costner, Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly

Audience Review:

“It is so gorgeous and beautiful to look at and I guess being from Texas, I find it comforting. Obviously Kevin has gotten better with age! Hot Daddy! They scored big time to get Kelly Reilly in this! I still tear up when I think of her character in ""Flight"! She is one powerful actress who really puts her heart out there! I am in love with this show! I don't want to spoil anything so I'll just leave it at this. It is enjoyable to let play in the background or focus on intently. It doesn't try to own you, it just offers you everything to take in as you please.”

Show Information:

Genre: Action, Drama, Adventure
Rating: 6.8/10

Audience Review:

“Amazingly done with great acting and lots of brilliantly crafted action sequences. Not a boring moment. Saoirse Ronan is just so, so good. Don't mess with Hanna! Cate Blanchett fits into her role as a bad guy and Eric Bana is excellent. The critics have seriously underrated this movie. Joe Wright directs this movie in the same masterful way he did Atonement. Highly entertaining and original Grimm fairy tale which is beautifully structured.”

8. American Rust

When it comes to understanding the complexities of the American dream, few perspectives are as gripping and thought-provoking as that seen through the lens of Del Harris, the chief of police in a small town in southwest Pennsylvania. With his complex family history and his complicated relationship with ex-lover Julia (Whittman), Del is a man caught between his ambitions for success and his attachment to familiarity.

In Philipp Meyer’s celebrated debut novel American Rust, these tensions play out against a backdrop of changing economic conditions in rust belt towns like Del’s own. As he struggles to navigate this turbulent world, Del must face difficult choices about where he belongs, who he loves, and what kind of future he wants for himself and for the town that he serves.

In the end, American Rust is a story about fighting to retain one’s sense of self even when all around seems lost. If you love exploring challenging themes through compelling characters and riveting narratives, then you won’t want to miss this captivating page-turner.

Show Information:

Genre: Action, Drama, Adventure
Rating: 7.2/10
Cast: Jeff Daniels, Maura Tierney, David Alvarez

Audience Review:

“This show is very underrated quite frankly for its realism. I love that it is not an over hyped, over acted, overly dramatized look at life in a small steel town in Pennsylvania. I think what in most captivating is everything about seems like its playing out exactly as it might with all the sorrows, depths and loyalties that one might find in small impoverished town in which one must rely on ones town folks in desperate times. It was cast brilliantly with top notch acting and writing. Jeff Daniels will likely be nominated for some award. The undertones of opioid addiction are incorporated just enough that you understand how pervasive the problem is but not so much it overly dominates the main story line which is really about loyalties one might experience in a place where everyone knows one another and are somehow intertwined with a sense of duty to one another, something lost in large cities. The only missed opportunity here so far is that the director didnt do a better job cinematically. It is obvious this is not a seasoned director and should they renew it for a second season I hope they expand the budget to include better cinematography. Well done. Im on episode 6 and I am completely invested.”

9. Tales from the Loop

If you’re looking for a new show to watch that will leave you captivated and thinking long after the credits roll, Tales from the Loop is definitely worth checking out.

Show Information:

Genre: Drama, Sci-Fi
Rating: 7.4/10
Casts: Daniel Zolghadri, Paul Schneider, Rebecca Hall

Audience Review:

“Happened across this today and ended up binging the entire series! As some reviewers have stated, the episodes run slowly, however, each episode looks at the story of indivudal characters in the ensemble cast. The twists are based on quirky SciFi elements and helps the viewer examine how the episode character comes to this point or to an unexpected situation, which may not have a typical resolution. The production, cinematography and acting are top notch and worth viewing from a visual and stylistic perspective. The stories leave you with a feeling of melancholy, that is strangely satisfying. Arthouse work in a TV series format. Worth a watch in my book. If you're looking for lasers and whiz-bang effects, this may not be the series for you.”

Show Information:

Genre: Action, Drama, Adventure
Rating: 7.1/10
Casts: Rosamund Pike, Daniel Henney, Madeleine Madden

Audience Review:

“Having history with the books obviously slants my bias, plus I had no expectations of this ever happening, so now that it has, I knew there would be creative license with many aspects of the story and I decided to roll with whatever I saw. That being said, I think new viewers unacquainted with the story will have a hard time with all the different names being thrown around and the customs for each cultures the friends continue to meet. Add the culture of Shaitan and all his minions to that too. I hope it's not an overwhelming experience that turns people off. This isn't game of thrones which people are already trying to compare it to, and that might turn them off. There are aspects to game of thrones within one culture of people, but the story is much larger than that. I like the actors, production, I like the direction things have gone so far. I hope everyone keeps in mind it's the first season. Go back and rewatch GOT season one and compare in to season four....there are many wonderful differences viewership and money can add to the storyline.”

Show Information:

Genre: Action, Crime, Drama
Rating: 8.5/10
Casts: Jim Caviezel, Taraji P. Henson, Kevin Chapman

Audience Review:

“This is a cleverly made series with a kick ass plot, interesting acting and character and a very bad-ass hero. This series keeps you at the edge of your seat throughout, since its concept broadens the paths the series can take. The premise of the show is kept intact unlike some other shows that are too afraid to stick to premise. Past and present events are placed well and strategically thus leaving no room for plot holes. There are a lot more good parts to it, but I leave it here. Season 1 is good, season 2,3,4 are better. This show is definitely worth you time because it is delivered in every kind of flavor.”

Show Information:

Genre: Action, History, Drama
Rating: 7.9/10
Casts: Jared Harris, Derek Mio, Tobias Menzies

Audience Review:

“I really can't understand why AMC decided to use the same title for two completely different series without any relation between each other (new plot, new directors, new actors...) - it's confusing, misleading, totally pointless. Given the above: the first season is a masterpiece. One of the top 4-5 series of the year. This second season is a very average product, deserving 6, maximum 7/10. Pointless to rate them together with a shared vote.”

Cons

13. Sinner

The Sinner follows the story of Cora Tannetti, a young mother who inexplicably stabs a man to death in broad daylight. As Detective Harry Ambrose begins to investigate the case, he quickly realizes that there is more to Cora than meets the eye.

The series deftly explores the psychological motivations behind Cora’s crime, and Jessica Biel gives a magnetic performance as the troubled young woman. Bill Pullman is also excellent as Ambrose, a detective whose own dark past threatens to derail the investigation. The Sinner is a gripping crime drama that will leave you guessing until the very end.

Show Information:

Genre: Crime, Drama, Mystery

Audience Review:

“Couple of things: Jessica Biel never ages. Pullman can pull off weird disturbed detective well. This is a series that will keep you guessing till the end- very unusual, very dark and very disturbed. You won't feel good about yourself at the end in the nicest possible way. Very addictive and I loved the soundtrack too! Check it out.”

Show Information:

Genre: Comedy, Fantasy
Rating: 8.0/10
Casts: David Tennant, Michael Sheen, Frances McDormand

Audience Review:

“So good, that it amazes me to find any negative comments or reviews at all. While it may not be everyone's cup of tea (what is?), to think some actually found something negative to critique or give a bad rating to, is baffling. The acting is top-notch, the story is fantastic, the writing superb, the delivery mostly quirky and fun, so in a time where other television series run together and merge and meld in their unoriginality, to give this fun, very intelligently done series anything less than a nine, would be a sin.”

15. Why Women Kill

Show Information:

Genre: Comedy, Crime, Drama
Rating: 8.3/10
Casts: Jack Davenport, Lucy Liu, Allison Tolman

Audience Review:

“This show started out strong and continued to improve, culminating in an absolutely breathtaking season 1 finale. This show took cliched subject matter and turned the "women who kill" trope completely on its head by creating incredibly nuanced female characters. Initially, I found the Lucy Liu storyline to be the weakest, relying too heavily on stereotypes. But over the course of a few episodes, her storyline quickly became the strongest, and was expertly acted by both Lucy Liu and Jack Davenport. I laughed, I cried, I'm waiting with baited breath for season 2!”

Show Information:

Genre: Comedy, Drama
Rating: 8.7/10
Casts: Rachel Brosnahan, Alex Borstein, Michael Zegen

Audience Review:

“I almost missed this series. I was half way through the first episode, wasn't invested in any of the characters, and saw nothing amazing enough to make we watch the second episode. But, I hung in, deciding to watch the entire episode, as I had some free time to waste. There's something like a nuclear bomb that gets dropped just before this episode ends, and if you miss that, you'll miss the brilliance behind the rest of the series. Midge suddenly becomes, and remains, so much more than amazing. She's one of the most delicious characters I've seen in a very long time. Clever repartee, an array of quirky characters, and a machine gun approach to dialogue that drew me into hanging onto every exchange, even though I usually agonize through four letter words. They aren't constant enough to assault those who don't appreciate them, so it was a small price to pay for some of the best screenwriting I've seen in a long time. Don't miss this se”

Audience Review:

“Let me say first of all that I enjoy classical music, and I enjoy the bohemian lifestyle associated with musicians and artists. This show is fresh, sarcastic, real and completely lacks the common areas that of sex and violence so over used on TV and movies. It is beautiful because the acting, the music and the geniality of "Rodrigo", the Maestro who is played by Gael Garcia Bernal. It is with great pride to say that the witty sense of humor of the modern Mexican culture is captivated, without loosing the connection to its eccentric American counterpart. There is an element of "Magic Realism" that will bring spice to the show, making it more unpredictable and appealing, specially who those who are so tired of super elaborated and complicated dramas. Thanks Amazon for bringing this master piece to life. Bravo!!!”

Show Information:

Genre: Drama
Rating: 8.2/10
Casts: Billy Bob Thornton, Nina Arianda, Tania Raymonde

Audience Review:

“First let me say that billy bob was built for this role. Picking him was the obvious choice because there is almost no one that can play a washed up brilliant drunk the way he can. Now as for the actual series. We have Billy, who's a retired defense attorney thrown back in law after he gets tossed a case about a guy on a boat that blew up. At first it just sounds like a regular case, and then it quickly becomes apparent that there's a lot wrong with it. The long and short of it is that this series is layered perfectly, you never see what's coming because they scripted it in a way in which you don't get to see around the bends. 10/10 great acting, great directing, and an amazing script.”

Audience Review:

“Shows like this come along only once in a very long while. An American shipping magnate that has had to resort to concealing illegal shipments to help his ailing business, an Italian mafia family and Don that is looking to come out of hiding and reward everyone (including his enemies) with a huge payday, and a Mexican Army Elite Troop who's job it is to take down the Narcos. Combine these three elements, add extra intrigue, changing allegiances, amazing cinematography, settings on more than three continents, incredible tension building episodes and you have ZeroZeroZero. Ignore the naysayers on this site, this is one of the best shows you will see for a long time. Acting, photography, direction, are all first class. This is an incredible piece of TV that deserves to be up there with the very best.”

20. The Tick

The Tick is a nigh-invulnerable superhero in a blue tick suit who arrives in the city to help combat crime and uncover the mysterious figure behind the city’s underworld. He befriends a nervous and mild-mannered young man named Arthur who becomes his sidekick.

The Tick is incredibly strong and practically indestructible, meaning he is more than capable of taking on any foe, no matter how powerful they may be. In addition to his physical strength, the Tick also has access to a variety of gadgets and gizmos that help him in his fight against crime.

However, despite his impressive abilities, the Tick is not without his flaws. He is often impulsive and reckless, which can often lead to him getting himself into trouble. Nevertheless, he is a force for good in the city and will stop at nothing to bring justice to those who deserve it.

Show Information:

Genre: Action, Adventure, Comedy
Rating: 7.4/10
Casts: Peter Serafinowicz, Griffin Newman, Valorie Curry

Audience Review:

“I've watched this episode 3 times now. I really like it. I liked the comics and the animated series, but I didn't love the last live action version. This is by far, the best character development of any iteration of The Tick. Arthur's back store is excellent, and Griffin Newman plays it brilliantly. Peter Serafinowicz's acting as The Tick is a little rough, but he's a good actor and I have no doubt he'll pull it off. Plus with Patrick Warburton as a producer (as opposed to playing The Tick like he did the last time) I'm sure he'll coach Peter along. To me, this is more representative of the comics, which could be darker than the animated series. Arthur's back story is definitely darker and it seems that Arthur's story line is going to carry the series forward while The Tick may be "the sidekick" to the story. I really hope Amazon picks this up, I can't wait to see where Ben Edlund takes it from here. Ed.”

Audience Review:

“After a steady start with Seasons 1 & 2, the 3rd has really excelled in my opinion. The features and specials are great, the humour is more natural and most of all it's great fun to watch!! The chemistry and banter between the 3 of them is much more evident in this latest instalment too. It's worth noting that I did very much enjoy the first 2 seasons but I felt the show was still finding it's feet in terms of the format and what felt like over scripting at times. Overall I love the show. I watched Top Gear with the 3 of them religiously and I love that The Grand Tour is here to fill the void!”

Audience Review:

“I never give 10 stars, since I'm personally dubious of all 10 star reviews. But lately, American 'comedies' are so full of social justice and religious/political engineering, I almost forgot what it was like to laugh. Finding this show (just started season 2)--it's an anarchistic breathe of fresh air, compared to the group-think slop being shoveled into our troughs here in the US. It's been so long since I watched something designed to make me laugh, instead of control the way I think, I'm gonna give it the full 10 stars. Very excited to watch the rest of season 2!”

23. Kim’s Convenience

When Kim’s Convenience first hit the small screen, it was clear that the show had something special. With its unique blend of humor and heart, the series quickly rose to become one of the most popular comedies on television.

Set in a local Korean convenience store run by mom Kim and her husband Mr. Kim, this laugh-out-loud sitcom follows their kids, Janet and Jung, as they struggle to balance work and life while navigating cultural expectations and family relationships.

Whether they’re dealing with outrageous customers or sibling rivalries, the Kims and their quirky cast of characters always manage to find laughter in even the toughest situations.

Through it all, we can’t help but root for these lovable underdog heroes because at their core, they truly embody the spirit of the family – always with love and kindness in their hearts. And for us viewers at home, that makes Kim’s Convenience one show that simply can’t be missed!

Show Information:

Genre: Comedy
Rating: 8.2/10
Casts: Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, Jean Yoon, Andrea Bang

Audience Review:

“Mr kim is really funny. A different kind of humor that reminds me a little of King of Queens if anything. I'm not Asian and I love it, its a one size fits all. A lot of family comedies are overly corny and you say to yourself this is just to stupid I can't watch it anymore. For the last 2 episodes this has not been the case for Kims Convenience. Mr Kim says what a lot of us are thinking. Or at least a realistic portrayal of one mans point of view. It's also quite unique on a cultural level. I tried to leave it out of the review and judge it on its own merit, but its refreshing and adds to the originality. No its not a lesson on Asian culture, but something different, that works. The show is not wall to wall laughs and its not supposed to be. However Mister Kim puts out some one liners that will have you laughing out loud, not just saying lol. That mixed with mr kims outspoken ideals on current event makes for a decent show. I look forward to more episodes.”

Show Information:

Genre: Crime, Drama, Thriller
Rating: 7.2/10
Casts: Tim Roth, Genevieve O’Reilly, Abigail Lawrie

Audience Review:

“Like a British version of Fargo, only set north of the border in Alberta, this violent bit of aggro features solid acting from all the leads; Tim Roth proves once again he is one of that country's finest thespians. But it's the women who bring the goods: Sarah Podemski as the patient, good-hearted constable is the glue, Genevieve O'Reilly glows and Abigail Lawrie, despite not having many lines, is a star of the future - her reaction shots alone reveal far more than any script could do. Sadistically violent, the show easily moves from satire and light touches to the vile and unmerciful. Throughout the two seasons, episodes vacillate in quality, going from exciting to dull in the flick of an eye. One episode may be consumed with dynamics and action, another, especially in season two, a dialog-intensive bore in the mold of Tarantino. Despite its flaws - mostly time-filling background fluff in the second season - a remarkable show that begs a third season.”

Audience Review:

“Well, to start off, I have to say that the first season was really amazing! No kidding! For me the first season was a 10/10. But then the second season came. Not gonna lie, my expectations were really high. And well, let's put it this way: In part, those expectations were fulfilled by the great acting all along the season. But there were some negative aspects that have to be pointed out. The start of the season is a bit confusing. We get thrown right into the action, which does bring up some confusion. Throughout the season the questions about what happened to some things before the second season were not answered. For me, some things just didn't make sense due to those still open questions. For these mixed feelings about the second season and the amazing first season I gave this series an 8 out of 10.”

Show Information:

Audience Review:

“I read Lee Child every now and then when I need to switch my brain off. It's not meant to be great literature or true to real life policing so there isn't a lot of point in the "not as good as.." comparisons. It's more like a televisual John Wick if a comparison is necessary - where Reacher is the guy who is always right and who always gets the girl - however improbable. This is a great adaptation which reflects the staccato dialogue and fast pace of the books and is visually pleasing and great fun. The only downside is Ritchson is a little too gym honed for the book Reacher and has a very odd walk for a guy that is supposed to walk miles each day. But overall as close as we will get and I hope the follow up seasons are this good.”

Audience Review:

“Considering there were reviews left here almost instantly after this series hit Amazon prime, there is no doubt that those reviewer's did not watch 10 hours/10 episodes before leaving their scathing reviews. If you can't bring yourself to watch an entire movie/series before giving your opinion, maybe you should just not say anything. I personally really enjoyed it. Is it the greatest series I've ever seen? Of course not but I still found it enjoyable and look forward to the next season.”

Show Information:

Genre: Adventure, Action, Crime
Rating: 7.1/10
Casts: Brec Bassinger, Anjelika Washington, Trae Romano

Audience Review:

“This show is way way wayyyyyy better than the other superhero shows on the cw! The reason why is because the cw did not create it, dc universe did. The cw is just airing it on their channel and app so it gets more views! I like how this show revolves around a teenager and not adults like all the other superhero shows do! It makes it way more interesting by her having to go to school and dealing with teenage problems! The fight scenes and cinematography are just amazing!!!!! The only superhero show that even comes close to this is arrow and maybe black lightning! Hopefully this show doesn't just go episode to episode just stopping crime like all other superhero shows which make them boring but actually shows the characters lives and problems and them dealing with that type of stuff and not just stopping crime! From what I can tell it is not going to be like the other shows!!”

Audience Review:

“Unfortunately I'm afraid many won't make it long enough to see how good this show really is!! At episode 3 I was nearly ready to call it quits and I'm glad I didn't because the show really evolved into something unlike anything else I've ever watched. Sneaky Pete is a slow starter but wants it gets going you'll find it binge watch worthy with its interesting story line and characters you find that you're growing attached too. Giovanni Ribisi is excellent and at his best, and Bryan Cranston plays a great supporting role as he never disappoints. Although I find Netflix the better value I respect Amazon's quality over quantity perspective. I've found that I am entertained by almost every show they create have created.”

Audience Review:

“I have read the little novel, although I've forgotten most of the details. I was really interested to see the show as the idea appeals to me. It seems like subject matter that could be explored in a fascinating way. This first episode didn't blow me away or anything, but it has piqued my interest enough to want to see more. Especially the ending! I actually got chills at the final reveal of Joe's allegiances. Can't believe I didn't see it coming! A lot of the symbolism and many of the regime activities are not subtle. The show is clearly trying to ram home the key ideas. Burning people at the hospital for example was a fine idea, but perhaps too obvious to be clever. The acting is not exceptional, but it's good enough to carry this story so far. I'm interested to see where the show goes from here and whether this first episode is an indicator of future direction and tone, now that the key elements are actually in motion.”

Audience Review:

“I must admit to really struggling to get into this show in the beginning. After Season 1, I couldn't work out why the reviews were so good, I just wasn't finding it that funny, and wasn't keen on the characters, but I knew I had to keep watching. I think the mistake I made was expecting it to be as laugh out loud as something like Modern Family for example. With Catherine O'Hara and Eugene Levy who have made me laugh so much with things like Best In Show and a Mighty Wind I was expecting the same thing. But then it just clicked, subtle jokes, characters that become more and more lovable each episode, and really touching moments which have made me shed a tear on more than one occasion. By season five I was feeling sad that there was only going to be one more season after this. This is so well written, and the first time I've seen Dan Levy in anything, and he is just brilliant. If you're thinking of switching off, don't, keep going!”

32. The Missing

“The Missing” is a gripping thriller that follows Tony, played by James Nesbitt, as he searches for his abducted son. The film takes an emotional toll as Tony becomes a man obsessed, unable to accept that his child may be dead.

The audience is taken on a rollercoaster of emotions as Tony’s search leads him down dark and dangerous paths. Nesbitt gives an outstanding performance that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats. “The Missing” is a must-see film for fans of thrillers.

Show Information:

Genre: Crime, Drama, Mystery
Rating: 8.2/10
Casts: Tchéky Karyo, Anastasia Hille, James Nesbitt

Audience Review:

“Somebody among the reviews said that the positive ones are paid for. Well, I'm not paid by anybody to review this show and I feel like giving it 10 stars because once I watched the pilot episode, I could not stop watching the rest of the show. Somebody might find the pace too slow, some others won't enjoy the acting, or the editing... whatever, I found it interesting, nicely done, realistic, dramatic, catching... I feel like recommending The Missing to anybody, although I respect the fact that it might not be for anybody. The whole show is characters' driven and it's about a couple losing their 5 year old child while on vacation in France. There's a lot of drama in it. If you're a parent you'll understand and "enjoy" the show even more, clearly. Again, it might not be your kind of entertainment, but I objectively think it's a well-done show worth to watch it. Can't wait for next season. PS: The show is 100% European, whether you like it.”

33. The Night Manager

Jonathan Pine is the night manager of a Cairo hotel. He’s a quiet, unassuming man who seems to be content with his life. But all that changes when he meets Sophie Alekan. Sophie is the girlfriend of a local gangster, and she’s in trouble. She asks Jonathan for help, and he agrees to protect her.

This decision sets Jonathan on a path that will ultimately lead him to infiltrate the inner circle of an arms dealer. Along the way, he’ll have to deal with betrayal, danger, and death. But it’s all worth it if he can save Sophie and stop the arms dealer from carrying out his evil plans.

Show Information:

Genre: Crime, Drama, Mystery
Rating: 8.1/10
Casts: Hugh Laurie, Tom Hiddleston, Elizabeth Debicki

Audience Review:

“Though updated for the present time and reworked slightly, The Night Manager stays forcefully true to the characterizations and atmosphere of Le Carre's classic spy novel. Tom Hiddleston shines as the complicated protagonist, and Huge Laurie and Olivia Colman provide forceful screen presence to offset his vulnerably self-contained persona. Fans of Le Carre's work are likely to enjoy The Night Manager, as are those who enjoy an atmospheric mystery populated with beautiful men and women, intelligent writing, and international stakes. Not a series to watch without paying attention, it is a series well worth the time and effort to absorb and enjoy it fully.”

Though they sometimes longed for something new and exciting, they had become accustomed to their familiar routines.

Show Information:

Genre: Crime, Drama, Fantasy

Audience Review:

“When I started watching this I really thought it was rubbish. I would not under any circumstances find out too much about it before watching. I knew it was about a couple with no kids who want to try to liven things up a little and that was it. This made it a surprise when you get to the end of episode 1 and an even bigger shock when I got to the end of episode 2. I nearly gave up by the middle of episode 2. However I am glad I watched. It is good. It is a little different to the normal married couples getting bored scenario. Don't find out anything about this. Watch to the end of episode 2 before you decide to commit or not. You will be rewarded.”

“I was very surprised by this show, when I saw the trailer I thought that it would another Nazi theme series, so I was hesitant to start watching it, but after the 1t episode, I wa hooked. The actors are incredible good, Al Pacino deserves all the praises but all the other actors nailed the performances as well. I loved every single episode, even the bad guys are really good. The dialogs are witty and funny when needed or dramatic and intelligent. I hope Amazon continues to bring shows of this level of quality in the future. Congrats to all involved. I can't wait for more.”

Show Information:

Audience Review:

“This Pilot show is excellent. The acting is top notch and the tension built to an incredible crescendo, all whilst set in a stunning location. I have to admit the show was slow to get going, but that is something that is missing from T.V and film these days. Rather than jumping straight in to mindless action, the script writers, directors/producers took the time to introduce the characters, allowing you to connect with them and ultimately care about their situation. It's a risky roll of the dice, for a pilot episode, and the production team deserve to be commended for that. I hope this show gets picked up! I was not expecting the end sequence of events at all, what the heck was with the head mask? Who is the lady introduced at the end? These questions need answering! I don't think I have been so gripped by a pilot episode since the first episode of Breaking Bad or Dexter, and look how great those shows turned out! :)”

Show Information:

Genre: Crime, Mystery, Sci-Fi

Audience Review:

“This is a fun show with great characters that you love more and more with each episode. Robbie Amell and Andy Allo, I believe in their first starring roles in a TV series, have great chemistry together. You cheer for things to go well and get upset when they don't. And all the side characters really add to this, Idiocracy-like, future world. Just remember, it's definitely not a copy of The Office or Parks and Rec. It has a more dramatic connected storyline than those shows that really gets you involved, wanting the main characters to succeed (or fail). The only downside? I wish there were more episodes. I can't wait for season 2!”

38. Vikings

Audience Review:

“First things first - the characters, brought to life by the brilliant performances are... spectacular. The writers, producers, directors, and most of all the actors were -all- so inspired - so much passion for the product, that every scene evokes its own life. Though the show is super serious, it dosent always take itself too seriously which is rare and very welcome. Every character has redeeming qualities and I must say... This is quite the amazing show. I didnt know there were more than 4 seasons, so maybe I'll finish with what's on Netflix and leave it there, cuz a lot of you guy's really seem to note a quality dip.. A must watch - one of my favorite newer series.”

Audience Review:

“If there is a combination of 80s media and trends all rolled into one show, this would be it. They even got Amy Heckerling from 'Fast Times' fame to direct the final season. If you love 80s clichés this show is full of them, however that does not detract from the show, in fact in embraces them. I think at parts it could have been improved and touch upon "tending 80s topics" but I think the show is a love letter to 80s, nothing new but comfort food.”

Audience Review:

“As an autistic adult it is absolutely fantastic to see more autistic characters on screen. Overall, I think this show did OK representing lives of autistic adults with high support needs. I would have liked to see more diversity in the characters represented. I did not agree with some of the ways the neurotypicals tried to help the autistic characters. Some of this can be explained by everyone just trying their best to get their stuff together and genuinley making mistakes (some of these are recognised in the show). But there is no need to force eye contact, wear overly uncomfortable clothes and force socialisation when it might not be possible that week. Who came up with the goals it did not seem to me like the adults where in charge of this part of their life. However, I definitely can relate to the characters on the screen and it feels good to be seen.”

“I can't believe all the people trashing this Pilot for the new series. We watched it last night and thought it was beyond excellent. The Acting was good, the filming and technique superb, and the quick back and forth dialogue and interplay with characters was first rate. I love the motif of the letter, playing itself out through the whole. Everyone of the characters so far introduced is begging to be unfolded, much less the story itself. If anyone is on the fence because of the reviews, please give it a chance. Quite a few of our friends, whose taste is superb, have loved it too. We are all different in our tastes but this one deserves a chance. I really hope it becomes a series.”

Genre: Comedy, Drama
Rating: 7.2/10
Casts:  Anna Paquin, Lydia Wilson, Rebecca Benson

Audience Review:

“As much as I despise today's pop culture Flack brings it home sums it up and then some. Somehow this show manages to give the viewer a inside seat to all that is nutty today with pop culture. The performance by Anna Paquin is second to none and the supporting cast is as solid. Flack hits all the right buttons for me and is well worth the watch even for a pop culture hating old man like me.”

43. Lorena

From Executive Producer Jordan Peele, this four-part docuseries investigates the events of Lorena Bobbitt and her husband John when they hit the headlines in 1993. Known for its lurid details, mainstream media seemed obsessed with every aspect of this dramatic case, from John’s alleged history of abuse to Lorena’s motives for cutting off his penis with a knife. But despite all the hype, few people stopped to consider the very real traumas that had driven Lorena to take such drastic action.

Show Information:

Genre: Documentary, Crime
Rating: 7.2/10
Casts: Lorena Bobbitt, John Wayne Bobbitt, Kim Gandy

Audience Review:

“I rated this documentary high because, technically, it's editing was so well done; by choice of editing certain scenes, juxtaposing spoken words with focus on different people and actions, the viewer could glean so much more of what was left unsaid and implied. When this incident actually occurred in the '90s, I gave it only my cursory attention, since I've never been a "tabloid" follower. But, the filmmaker recreates here the era, including the politically vacuous attitude toward women's issues even after the "Second Wave" of feminism was winding down, and the ultimate resiliance of Lorena Bobbitt that brought her to reclaim a life beyond being a tabloid joke. This is an important film. I am in awe of the filmmaker for having the inspiration and guts to make it. In this era of #MeToo, this should be required viewing in all high schools.”

As the central counter-terrorism investigation heats up, the stakes for all three, their families and relationships, get higher and higher. The series is tense and gripping, with plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing. It’s definitely worth a watch!

Show Information:

Genre: Drama, Crime, Thriller
Rating: 7.8/10
Casts: Paddy Considine, Nabhaan Rizwan, Bel Powley

Audience Review:

“Set in modern day London, the series concerns the police's fight against terrorism and the criminal intelligence unit charged with gathering intelligence on potential terrorist acts. The lead is played by Paddy Considine, (The Girl with All the Gifts', 'Pride', 'Cinderella Man') as an experienced officer with a troubled past, and co-stars Bel Powley, ('The Diary of a Teenage Girl' and 'Wilding'), as a new officer in the unit desperate to prove herself, and newcomer to TV drama, Nabhaan Rizwan. as a young British Muslim man of Pakistan descent who is manipulated and dragged into the dark world of being a police informant. The intelligence believes itself to be in a race against time to prevent a massive terrorist attack in London and is prepared to go to any length in order to stop it. I found little to fault in the first episode, which I thoroughly enjoyed, and look forward to future episodes.”
