“Great place! We spent 5 hours there and only covered a small portion of the place. I loved the Indigenous art section! They also had one of the Group of Seven member's pieces of art. Also, they had an ivory section that featured a lot of intricate pieces of work. It was astounding to see how small the artists could carve these items. My pictures won't do them justice because you have to be there to see how tiny they are. Also, they had a section for black photographers that was well done.”

Look for a huge hanging work 'Swimming with the Giants' by Tim Pitsiulak in the lobby of the black modernist tower that is situated south of the main TD Centre complex, on Wellington Street West. “Visited this Art Gallery during the White Night on October 1st where there were presenting in their little garden “music video clips” from the 50s and 60s, a type of vintage YouTube, using the original film technology. Spent there over an hour. It was like going back in time. Of course, I visited the rest of the gallery. The art in conjunction with the architecture of the building has a distinctive spirit. I go there sometimes, plus it’s free! It also hosts numerous art and more organizations, so super cool.”

The building itself is a gorgeous old brick thing, restored or in the process thereof, and there are so many studio and exhibition spaces and friendly folks working. The Spacing shop is here as well as another cool little one adjacent. I cannot wait to come back when I am in Toronto again and maybe hopefully do a workshop or two in one of the studios. “I have followed the Bulger gallery to three locations over the years and each space got bigger and better. As a photographer it's very hard to find spaces that even show a bit of photography, never mind are dedicated to it in the city. The newest space on Dundas is great and feels open. The bookstore is in the perfect spot and someone is always around to chat or help you out.
