Fireworks set off in the crowd during Dua Lipa concert in Scotiabank arena [2022]

It was supposed to be a night to remember for Dua Lipa’s fans at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. And while the pop superstar’s performance will certainly be remembered, it may not be for the reasons her fans were hoping for.

During the last song of the set around 10:30 p.m, an unsanctioned fireworks display was set off in the crowd, resulting in injuries to multiple concertgoers.

Many footage on social media captured the moment the fireworks went off, sending sparks flying through the air as panicked concertgoers tried to flee the area.

This Twitter user questioned if the fireworks during the concert were actually part of the show. In the video, it shows that many fans were surprised and some even ran away from the area.

According to this tweet, another concertgoer expressed that they didn’t even realize that the fireworks were unplanned until they started seeing people get hurt.

Unsanctioned fireworks at concerts are nothing new, but it’s still shocking to see how quickly they can turn a fun night out into a dangerous situation.

Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported. However, the unplanned fireworks display certainly put a damper on what was otherwise a spectacular show.

A few suffered minor injuries but did not require any medical help.

Many questioned how the fireworks were able to make their way into the venue given the strict security measures that are typically in place at large concerts.

Some concertgoers responded on social media that the security during that night barely did anything to check for outside food and drinks, let alone fireworks.

From this incident, it just goes to show that even the most well-planned events can be derailed by the actions of a few irresponsible individuals. Let’s hope that everyone who was injured at the concert is able to recover quickly and that future shows are able to avoid any similar incidents.
