High Park is Toronto’s biggest park. This park is enormous and includes all of the essential facilities for a park and more. High Park’s accessible location, quick bus access, and proximity to Runnymede station have made it a favourite destination for many Torontonians. High Park’s unique selling point is not just its size, but also its proximity to the lakefront. The park is a great place to spend time with family and friends while being surrounded by nature and trees that are more than 200 years old. High Park is also a great place to see cherry blossoms in the spring. You can also engage in sporting activities such as swimming, hiking, and trekking, not to mention the High Park Zoo. Join us in this lovely spot as we discover everything the city has to offer.

As the park covers an area of 161 hectares, there is nothing you can’t do here. You can even have your wedding ceremony. If you enjoy exploring nature, you can go trekking on the trails or set up camp, which is a fantastic way to get to know and appreciate the park’s wildlife. There are guided tours available to assist and educate you about each route. One of the activities you can enjoy at the park other than biking is swimming, which is located on Colborne Lodge Dr next to the rink. There are also three baseball diamonds, two soccer fields, and three well-lit public tennis courts. Skating and skiing are two more winter activities that you can enjoy.
Some of the interesting structures in the park worth seeing are the High Park Labyrinth, the High Park Amphitheater and the Sculpture Hill.
Biodiversity

High Park is one of the best parks where you can see different types of animals. The park also has a zoo, so you won’t have to go looking; instead, you can just enjoy viewing wild animals from the zoo. Llamas, cows, bison, peacocks, yaks, capybaras, and other animals can be found in the zoo. There are also wildlife outside the zoo, such as chipmunks, which are common.
The park is an excellent location for bird viewing. Over 100 bird species can be seen, including the migratory bird American robin, hawks, Sparrows, Rock Pigeons, Mourning Doves, Crows, Canada goose and more. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for the beautiful blue jaybird.
You can also fish at High Park, but only in the designated areas. Fishing is permitted along the southeastern shoreline of Grenadier Pond. For those who fish with a rod or line, a licence is required. Make sure you follow the rules and regulations and look at the map to find the designated fishing locations.
Parking

On weekdays, there is plenty of free parking at the park, but it is closed on weekends and holidays. There is street parking on Bloor St as well as paid parking in the surrounding neighbourhood.
Additional Information
- Never, ever follow or stalk an animal into the bushes.
- Biking is allowed on paved roads and paths. There are no designated bike trails.
- When visiting the High Park Zoo, keep your pets on a leash.
