James Gardens, located along the Humber River, is one of the most popular gardens in the GTA. This garden is four hectares in size and includes many lovely flowers, a small pond, old trees, wooden pathways, and many other features, all with serene views in a quiet neighbourhood. The James Garden is named after Fred T.James, who purchased the site and transformed it into the wonderful paradise that it is today. The park has become a favourite location for photographers and weddings, as well as a peaceful and meditative haven for many locals. The garden not only has beautiful greenery, but it is also adjacent to the Humber River, which provides spectacular landscapes of the water.

Things to Do

A beautiful environment is important for the soul, and James Gardens is no exception. The garden contains well-kept grass spaces and benches for lovely family picnics, as well as trees that provide plenty of shade..  If you enjoy nature, you will appreciate the streams, hiking trails, and bike lanes (the garden connects to the Humber River bike trail) for a wonderful outdoor activity.
James Garden is a one-of-a-kind location that is great for all seasons. In the summer, you can play lawn bowling, and in the fall, colourful leaves cover the ground, making it an excellent spot in the GTA to view fall colours and for a nice photoshoot. You can also see jumping salmons. In the winter, the garden transforms into a cross-country skiing area.
The gazebo and rustic bridge in the garden are top spots for weddings, proposals, and movie shoots.

Biodiversity

James Gardens is a great area to see birds like the White-Throated Sparrow and flocks of ducks and geese. The ponds provide an ideal habitat for birds as well as northern green frogs. The garden is also rich with flowers that bloom in the summer and fall, including Russian sage, Siberian squill, Lucile’s glory of the snow, Zinnia, Liatris, and many more.
If you want to go fishing in the area, the Humber River is a popular spot where you can catch salmon, carp, catfish, and huge suckers.
