Yelp/Khao Gaeng
Address: 3583 Lake Shore Blvd W, Etobicoke
Phone: (647) 343-8019
Khao Gaeng is a popular Thai restaurant in Etobicoke since it offers the authentic taste from the streets of Thailand and everyone will find something they like. Khao Gaeng serves a variety of Thai dishes such as curry, stir-fry and more which is a great place for a quick lunch or dinner. Their diverse menu offers a mix of traditional Thai dishes and their restaurant décor makes you feel like you are in Thailand

The interior of this place is very simple and it’s well lit because of the big windows. The pace is fairly small with around 10 tables available for small groups of people or for two. However, the restaurant is beautifully decorated with fun Thai trinkets such as paintings, flags and other little decorations.

Their menu is also very simple with 6 categories: appetizer, salad, soup, rice, noodle, curry, and stir-fry. They also offer signature dishes such as fried chicken, braised chicken and Pad Gra Prao Kai Dao which is their specialty. Also, they have lunch specials (weekdays 11:30 am – 3 pm) which come with spring roll, salad, and drink for around $10 which is a great deal!
A classic is their Pad See Ew with your choice of protein (tofu, chicken, beef, and shrimp. The pad see ew consists of stir-fried rice noodles with a sweet soy sauce and a hint of garlic that gives it a great flavour. The most important thing about this dish is that you choose your own sauce and spice to make it as spicy as you like.

If you’re looking for something more green, definitely go for the Pineapple Fried Rice with your choice of protein. This plate contains garlic, egg, carrot and an interesting accent in the dish which is a pineapple! The rice also has a great flavour with carrots, peas in it which made this fried rice taste amazing

Another noteworthy dish is their Panang Curry with your choice of protein once again. The Penang Curry is a red curry-based sauce with potato, carrots and bell pepper as well as your choice of meat (chicken, beef or shrimp). This dish has a great flavour because the curry is not too strong and it is seasoned really well!

Don’t forget to check in with Yelp, as they offer complimentary Thai iced tea with your meal if you check-in!
All in all Khao Gaeng definitely has something for everyone and is a great place to find some authentic Thai cuisine. They are also very affordable ranging from $10-$15 per dish which is what I like about this place.
If you’re looking for some good Thai food, Khao Gaeng might be the spot for you!
