The restaurant’s interior design definitely stands out as being one of the most unique when it comes to Toronto restaurants. From tiled floors to colourful flags lining the walls, the eatery is adorned with patterned tiles and Thai trinkets, as well as a few abstract paintings. This adds a certain charm, or shall we say quirkiness, to the place. Wooden accents can be found throughout the space, from the tables to the chairs and even at the open bar.

Khao San Road offers an extensive menu of traditional Thai cuisine with the main focus being their curry and noodle dishes. Curry dishes are made up of red, green and yellow curries, all with coconut milk as the base. These include classic Thai favourites such as gaeng keow wan (green curry), massaman and panang curries. All the curry has the perfect balance of spices with a subtle sweetness from the coconut milk. But if you were to choose one, you can’t go wrong with the yellow curry.

Another favourite is their pad thai. Who would have thought that something as simple as fried noodles can be so delicious? This staple dish is prepared with the perfect mix of rice noodles, bean sprouts, egg, and your choice of protein all stir-fried together. It’s the ideal mix of sourness from the tamarind paste and sweetness. You can also ask for some chilli peppers if you want a bit of spice.

For drinks, you’ve got to try their classic Thai ice tea. Made from black tea, milk, sugar and Thai spices, this drink is extremely popular because it’s really thick and strong, with plenty of tea flavour.
Khao San Road is a must-try restaurant in Toronto if you’re looking for tasty Thai cuisine. From their classic curries to an effortlessly cool vibe, this place is perfect for a casual night out with friends or dinner with family.
