The interior of this restaurant definitely stands out from the rest of the Indian restaurants in the city. It is bright, modern, and has a lively vibe with its contrasting walls of exposed brick and painted whites. Inside you will find a large contemporary Indian mural that dominates the dining room. Khau Gully definitely has a hip, young feel to it which pairs well with their menu options. The restaurant also features a lovely patio area to enjoy the weather and entertain guests in the warmer seasons.

A great starter to get here is the bhindi rajasthani ($14.99) which are okra dusted with exotic Indian spices. The freshness of the okra is so pronounced and this dish has just the right amount of heat to complement it without being too overwhelming for someone who doesn’t have a high spice tolerance.

For the main, a dish that shouldn’t be missed is butter chicken ($17.55) which also has a vegan version ($18.55) available. Their butter chicken is packed with flavour and their vegan version replicates it so well that even meat-eaters would enjoy it. The butter chicken is served with rice and paneer, which are both homemade. The dish comes in large quantities so you will definitely have leftovers to enjoy the next day!

Another dish that you must try is their signature dum biryani ($14.45 – $19.45). The biryani is cooked in a handi and seasoned with saffron for an aromatic flavour. The curry flavours really come through in this dish and the rice has such a great texture to it which compliments any curries you may order. Best of all, it is served in a naan dum which locks in the aromas and flavours. It is such a unique dish and not something you will find at many other Indian restaurants!

Finally, end your meal with their badam gulaab phirni ($7.99) which is a traditional Indian dish that consists of a rice pudding with almonds and rosewater. The texture of this dish is very smooth and creamy with every bite! This is the perfect way to end your meal here as it has such an interesting taste to it compared to other Indian desserts.
The contemporary and stylish vibe of this restaurant is perfect for a special occasion or night out with friends and family. All of their dishes are presented beautifully and taste fresh and flavourful. Their great service and unique takes on more traditional Indian dishes are a must-try!
