Kub Khao is a casual Thai Eatery that’s nestled in a strip mall on Scarborough’s Sheppard street. This Thai spot is one of the most highly-rated Thai restaurants in the area serving traditional Thai cuisine like curries, pad Thai, and various stir-fries. They’re open for both lunch and dinner every day except for Mondays. The prices of their menu are fairly reasonable with most dishes being within the $12 range.

Kub Khao’s interior is a rather fascinating sight with its fusion of modern and traditional Thai designs. The walls are adorned with hand-painted murals and paintings of local Thai landscapes and temples, giving it a cozy and rustic feel. On the ceiling, you will find lanterns made from rice hats cleverly used to sandwich the lights. This is a great spot to take a date or a casual night out with friends or family.

Kub Khao’s menu has many staple Thai dishes that are incredibly delicious. The Pad Thai with its perfectly cooked noodles, peanut sauce, eggs, tofu, bean sprouts, tamarind sauce and a squeeze of lemon juice becomes shockingly delicious. It is not too spicy but the right amount to satisfy your palette.

The “Kub Khao” style fried rice has a great blend of flavours with its own special twist. It’s different from the usual takeout place because Kub Khao makes it with a slightly different spice and sauce. This dish also comes with your choice of protein and is served with classic egg, tomato, Chinese broccoli, and onions.

For drinks, they have a nice selection of tropical juices like mango, lychee, and guava for $4.25. These drinks taste especially refreshing after eating something spicy or savoury. The restaurant also has Thai Iced Teas and Thai Ice Float that both taste good and give you a caffeine boost!

For dessert, be sure to get the Mango Sticky Rice. This dish is served with sweet mango on top of sticky rice that has been cooked in coconut milk and a sprinkle of nuts. All the flavours blend together nicely to create a great end to a great meal.
This place is definitely a must-try for anyone who likes Thai food or is just looking to try something new. It’s delicious and unique, and I’m sure you will enjoy every bite. This restaurant is a must-see if you’re in the neighbourhood, with excellent food and service.
