Sabai Sabai is a modern Thai restaurant that specializes in Northern Thai and Laos cuisine. This trendy Thai restaurant on Church Street is a reflection of its current patrons, with art and light throughout. Despite its hip-new design, Sabai Sabai’s menu still pays homage to its roots with authentic Thai dishes such as curries, steamed fish, tom yum goong, and more.

The interior design of this place is very modern, clean and well done. With its concrete walls, the area has an industrial feel to it, but it also retains a Thai flair thanks to the wooden-themed furniture and decorations. There is plenty of seating space available inside, as well as an open patio area in the front if you want to enjoy a meal outside.

As for the menu, it is very extensive, offering both traditional dishes and modern twists on Thai cuisine. The menu includes everything from curries to stir-fried noodles, salads to rice plates. Highly recommend their chicken curry ($17), which is a green curry served with bamboo shoots, shrimp paste, Thai eggplant, and rice. This dish never disappoints because of its nice, fragrant flavours consisting of sweet, tropical, and a hint of spice to it – perfect if you can’t handle too much spice. The curry is the perfect pairing to their jasmine rice, which you can easily finish two bowls of.

Another favourite is the khao soi, which is a Northern Thai noodle curry dish consisting of egg noodles with chicken, pickled cabbage topped with crispy fried noodles. This dish is very flavourful and rich with a hint of sweetness, served with shrimp-flavoured crisps.

The food served here is always delicious, with dishes that are full of flavour. I also really liked the Thai-inspired cocktail that they serve. The Tom Yum Yum is their original cocktail which uses ingredients that are typically found in a Tom Yum Goong soup. It has a nice kick to it.
Sabai Sabai is the spot to be if you want to try some authentic Thai cuisine, especially curry. Overall Sabai Sabai has a great atmosphere with excellent food – the perfect place for your next dinner date night or even just after-work drinks! It can get pretty busy during dinner time, so be sure to make a reservation beforehand to save yourself a spot.
