Salad King is a casual Thai eatery with two locations on Yonge St., and Queen St. in downtown. Salad King serves up authentic Thai classics like Thai noodles, curries, and salads. What’s cool about this place is that you can adjust the spice level of the dishes here from 1 chilli all the way to 20 chilis if you’re a spice fiend. During the week, Salad King is packed with students and downtown professionals who stop by for a quick bite to eat.

The restaurant is spacious and clean, with many communal tables available for quick seating. At the center of the restaurant, the dining space has a different vibe to it with the added touch of Thai-inspired decor and a large mural of a lotus flower on the ceiling. Overall the space is cleverly designed to fit as many people as possible, while still preserving a comfortable dining experience.

The menu offers an extensive selection of Thai cuisine including salads, noodle soup, Thai soup, curries, seafood, stir-fries, and even vegan options. With prices ranging from $10-$15. The Golden Curry is a must-try. This is a yellow curry made with coconut milk, tamarind, palm sugar, and a variety of Thai herbs. It comes with an assortment of veggies, and you have the option of choosing chicken, beef, or shrimp for protein. This dish normally comes already slightly spicy, but you can increase the spice if you want to turn it up a notch.

Another great dish is the mango salad, made with shredded green mango and carrots, cilantro, cabbage, and topped with mango puree as a dressing. The salad is extremely refreshing, and the mango puree dressing perfectly ties all the ingredients together.

For dessert, they only have mango sticky rice on the menu. This one is definitely not to be missed, as it is an authentic Thai dish that most people do not get to try very often. The mango sticky rice is simply heavenly. It comes with fresh mangoes, sticky rice topped with coconut milk and palm sugar sauce, and peanuts. It will remind you of a tropical island, and your taste buds will thank you for this one.
Salad King is a great restaurant to visit if you want to taste some Thai cuisine in a comfortable and casual setting. If you are a fan of spicy food, make sure you let them know when you are ordering. It will make your dining experience even better because the service there is quick and the food gets to your table fast.
The restaurant also offers catering services and is a great place to take your family and friends for parties or potlucks. Delivery is included, but you can get a 10% discount if you order for pick-up.
