The Best Things that you can do in Toronto this Winter

With the days getting colder and shorter, Winter is just around the corner. The Winter months offer a number of different activities that the other seasons do not such as outdoor skating and tobogganing. Although this winter may be different due to the pandemic, it does not mean that you will be left with nothing to do. There are still many forms of entertainment that you can take part of here in Toronto. We have gathered a list of the best options.
Here are some of the best winter activities that you can do in Toronto:

Skating

Skating is one of the go-tos when it comes to winter activities. For this winter, The City of Toronto will open up 54 outdoor ice rinks to the public in which they will be able to skate. You can book a 45 minute session for a specific city-run rink online. Each rink will be limited to 25 participants at a time and face masks are mandatory throughout the entire duration. On top of these city run ice rinks, the city is authorizing around 30 more natural ice rinks for skating leisure.

Tobogganing

Similarly to skating, tobogganing is another classic when it comes to the most common winter activities. This winter, 23 toboggan hills in Toronto will be open to the public. The tobogganing regulations are similar to the regulations for ice skating, for example you will need to wear a mask at all times.

Take a stroll around the parks

This winter over 800 playgrounds and 30 other parks with fitness equipment will continue to be open to the public. This means that you can still enjoy taking walks around the park or going to a playground.

Skiing

Skiing is one of the top winter sports in many areas and in Toronto it is no different. While Ski Resorts are unlikely to be as packed as they were doing regular winters, most will remain open to the public barring restrictions. Some of the top city run ski and snowboard centers include Centennial Park and Earl Bales Park. Based on the weather conditions,  skiing season is set to begin on January 1st and end around mid-March.

Visit Museums and historic locations

If you are looking for a more laid-back activity compared to the other, why not check out some of the museums and indoor historic locations that Toronto has to offer? You can check out locations such as the Art Gallery of Ontario, which contains over 90,000 pieces of artwork for your viewing satisfaction and Aga Khan Museum which offers Muslim-based art from around the world. You can also check out Ripley’s Aquarium which will give you an opportunity to check out some of the unique sea life from around the world.
