Woodbine Beach is definitely one of Toronto’s favourite beaches. Located by Lake Shore Blvd, in East York, Woodbine beach is one of the four largest beaches, stretching 3km along the Lake Ontario waterfront. This beach has been recognized as a Blue Flag destination since 2005, meaning, the water on this beach is safe for swimming, drinking, and fishing, making this a prime destination for beachgoers.

If you are planning to drive, be sure to get here bright and early as the parking lots by Ashbridge Bay Park fill up fast. As for taking public transport, you have the option of taking the 92 Woodbine bus or the 501 Queen streetcar. However, expect it to be packed as many beachgoers will probably do the same.

Be sure to pack sure sandals before you come here, as this beach is known for having rocky sands, and many little objects buried under the sand, which can make it difficult to walk barefooted. During the summer, you will find a crowd of people engaged in typical beach activities like sunbathing, swimming, or having a picnic. There are also lifeguards on duty, so you can swim with the ease of mind that someone will come and help you if the need arises.

On this beach, you will also find many amenities including bathing stations, patios, changing rooms, picnic shelters, and foot wash stations to make your beach experience even better. Speaking of amenities, you can’t forget the beach volleyball courts. At Woodbine beach, you will find over 90 volleyball courts that cover the entire west side of the beach. Most of the courts on the beach are available to the public for free, but you better come early if you want to secure a spot for your group.
With so many fun things to do at Woodbine Beach, it comes as no surprise why this is one of Toronto’s most popular destinations during the Summer. If you are looking for a fun-filled day in the sun, there’s no better place to do it than Woodbine beach.
